Extracting microRNAs

By 25th November 2019 Video

In this video, Yron Joseph Manaig (ESR 8) was extracting microRNAs from porcine longissimus dorsi muscle using the QIAGEN miRNeasy Mini Kit. MicroRNAs are a small endogenous RNAs (21-25 nucleotides in length) that play an important role in regulating and targeting specific Messenger RNAs for degradation or translation repression. Sequencing of the sample was done using Illumina HiSeq Equipment. The aim of the experiment is to integrate these results from the previous Messenger RNAs analyses done on the same muscle samples. This will allow the establishment of regulatory network based on the n-6/n-3 omega fatty acid ratio.
